Here Are Some Reasons Why The Dog Is Not Eating Much

Here is why the dog is not eating much... Please keep in mind there are often multiple reasons for reduction in food consumption. There's rarely just one simple problem. Let's get started!

If you have recently adopted a brand new dog from the pound or local animal shelter, there are several factors that you need to take care of up front.

For one thing your new dog will need to have food and water as well as a few toys and treats. After a few weeks of having your dog if you notice your puppy is not eating much, you do not want to waste a lot of time thinking of issues.

Here are some common reasons why your dog is not eating much. Remember, the sooner you tackle the issue, the sooner you can get your dog the proper food it needs right away!

Unlike us, dogs can smell hundreds of different scents all at the same time. They have over 200 million scent receptors that can pick up scents at any given time.

If your canine is not eating much it may be due to the fact that they dislike the smell of the food.

There are all sorts of brands of foods that you can look at when you walk through the pet store, so why not get a moderately priced dog food.

You also want to think about taste, it could just be the dog food all the way around. It's new, cheap, and unhealthy. And, you dog knows it!

Believe it or not, dogs do go through human like emotions and when the weathers is a little bit gloomy, you may start to see your dog is not eating much. This is when it might be time to at least get out and take a walk or even throw the ball around.

If you do not have ample living space, it may be due to that. If a dog is feeling cramped, or uncomfortable, it could be a major reason why dog is not eating much.

Now, if you are having trouble when your dog is not eating much, there are a few different things that you can try.

Try taking a can of wet food and mixing it in with the dry dog food and letting that sit for a couple of minutes. This may help soften the crunchy bits of food so it is easier for your dog to eat.

Do not change the food that your dog eats often. Dogs like to eat the same food on a daily basis. "Creatures of habit."

When you change the brand or the style of food, you may start to notice that your dog is not eating much. Try a couple of these and if you still do not see a difference make an appointment with your vet.
