How To Choose The Right Size Dog

Let's discuss how to choose the right size dog. Deciding to get a puppy is the easy part. Next you have to decide on purchasing from a pet store, breeder, or adopting. You also have to decide on a breed and most importantly size. Dogs come in all different sizes and you have to choose a dog that is the right size for your home and your family. This article will help you understand how to choose the right size dog for you.

Why does the size of a dog matter? Well, if you live in a small apartment, a large breed dog won't have much room to walk around and play. Plus, it may accidently be bumping into furniture and knocking things over with its tail.

If you are getting a puppy, it will be adorable and you won't want to say no, but all puppies are small. You have to know how big the dog will get and use that size to make your decision. Dogs grow pretty fast and before you know it that tiny little puppy could be one big pooch.

If you have an entire house and a yard, then pretty much any breed will be able to fit without being crammed. If you have a large yard, that is ideal for breeds that require a lot of exercise. If you have a tiny yard, then you shouldn't get a breed that needs room to run.

Small dog breeds that could work well in an apartment include the pug, Chihuahua, Shi Tzu, Dachshund, Jack Russell, and pretty much any terrier.  A Bulldog, Beagle, Poodle or Grey Hound are a little bit bigger, but they can also work out in an apartment. All dogs require daily exercise, it's just easier for a smaller dog to get exercise in a smaller place. No matter what size or breed you will still need to take your dog for multiple walks a day.
