The New Dog Not Eating? Are You Worried? Here's What You Need!



The new dog not eating? And, you're freaking out? And, you're trying to figure out what to do? Let's talk about it!

Many new pet owners do not always have all of the information that they need in order to take care of their new dog properly.

If your new canine is not eating; there are a number of reasons why this could be happening as well as a number of solutions that you can try out.

Sometimes it can simply come down to changing the brand of dog food that you are trying out with your new puppy not eating. Just take a look and see, you never know how simple the solution could actually be.

Try and find out what your dog was eating was eating before it was put up for adoption. If the new dog not eating is a few years old, then chances are you just need to go back to the dog food that was being consumed before.

Try and get in touch with the previous owners and see what your vet can do. If the taste is not the issue, it may simply be the smell of the food.

It is important to remember that dogs have very sensitive senses and can feel things that the human cannot. If your new dog not eating does not like the smell, you may want to introduce a little bit of wet, canned food. Given in smaller portions, the dog might not be able to smell past the wet food.

Another reason why your the dog is not eating could be due to the fact that they have an upset stomach. A dog can run around outside and play for hours eating, insects and plants. Some of these plants or insects may release a chemical or a toxin into the dogs system causing the new puppy is not eating to feel ill and weak.

It could simply be a 24 hour bug that will pass or it could be something that a vet needs to address. Wait at least 12 hours before making a decision about your new puppy not eating.

Try to keep your new dog not eating on a regular eating schedule. If you decide to feed your dog in the afternoon, make sure to feed the dog at the same time every day.

If you forget and do not keep a schedule your dog might not eat or at least, like waiting around for food. Simply try a few changes out and if the puppy is not eating, get with your vet as soon as you can!
