Stop! Do not buy a pet food dish or water bowl until you read this

Never buy a pet food dish and water bowl combination...

Buy a dish. Buy a bowl. Keep them separate. Maintain some distance between the two. That's the summary. That's what you need to know.

If you are a new pet owner, you probably don’t really know what to purchase. I want to help you understand why it is important to buy at least one pet food dish and at least one bowl. Combinations stink.

Don't buy a dog dish water bowl combination like this. They are awful!

When I brought home my first pet many years ago, I bought a cheap plastic one-piece pet food food dish and water bowl. It seemed like a smart purchase. Well it was affordable but it was also a mistake.

Here’s what happens. As your pet drinks, water will get on the food. If it is dry food, it’ll get soggy. It gets pretty nasty. On the other hand, as your pet eats, food flies all over the place. On the floor, on the rug, under the refrigerator, and into the water bowl. Another mess!

This is very annoying to dogs and cats. It is also annoying to pet owners. This sloppy mess is hard to clean up. If you don’t take care of it, it’ll start to stink too. It is also more likely to attract flies and cockroaches.

Even if you are buying something fancy like a personalized pet dish or elevated pet feeder be sure that the food dish and water bowl are not too close to each other. I’ve seen some very, very expensive dish and bowl combinations. Don’t be fooled. Don’t waste your money.

Buy a dish. Buy a bowl.
